'Cats Clinch 4-3 Thriller in A-10 Quarterfinals

The Fayetteville, N.C. native pushed the Patriots'Â Hayden Postin to the brink on court six, after a 1-1 tie going into the third set. Despite falling behind 4-3 in the deciding frame, Wang closed out the day with three consecutive points to clinch the quarterfinal win for the Wildcats.
Davidson dropped the doubles point earlier in the match, as George Mason took a quick 1-0 lead, while the 'Cats responded with three straight singles victories. From court four, Juan Camilo Perez Gongora opened up with a swift 6-0, 6-1 win, while Alejandro Solares and William Clark earned 6-3, 6-0 and 6-2, 6-2 victories from courts one and two, respectively.Â
With a 3-1 lead, the Wildcats faltered as the Patriots picked up points at No. 3 and No. 5 to tie the match 3-all, leaving it up to Wang's heroics to win the day.
Davidson will return to action in Florida on Friday, April 28 at 5:30 p.m. to take on the Rams of VCU.
