DAVIDSON, N.C. -- For the third consecutive season, the Davidson men's tennis team has been selected as the No. 4 seed in the Atlantic 10's 2023 Championship bracket, the league office announced Monday.

The fourth-seeded Wildcats have earned a first round bye and will square off against No. 5 George Mason in the quarterfinals on Thursday, April 27 at 4:30 p.m. at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.

Davidson's match up with the Patriots marks the second time in three years where both teams will meet in their opening match at the championship tournament.

With a 9-1 advantage in the all-time series, the 'Cats were slated to host George Mason during the 2023 regular season before picking up a default victory over the Patriots. Previously meeting during the 2021 A-10 tournament, Davidson earned a 4-1 victory to advance to the conference semifinals. In the win, then-freshman Alejandro Solares paced the Wildcats, winning a 6-3, 6-3 singles victory at No. 5 to give Davidson an early 2-0 lead before former Wildcats Brooks Green and Camden Mazzoni closed out the win.

This season, Solares and Juan Camilo Perez Gongora lead the 'Cats with a 9-7 and 8-7 singles record, respectively. The duo has flourished at the No. 3 slot, as Solares ended the regular season 6-2 and Perez Gongora went 3-0 on court three, in addition to winning five matches at No. 4.

Senior William Clark ended his final season 8-9 overall, with a 6-4 ledger on court two, while junior Jerry Wang enters the A-10 tournament 8-8 overall and 6-4 from No. 6.

On the doubles courts, the Wildcats have played 12 different combinations led by eight wins from Perez Gongora and seven from Maxwell Kachkarov.
