THE TOURNEY... In its sixth season under Head Coach Gayle Fulks, Davidson enters the Atlantic 10 Tournament as the #11 seed, set to take on #14 St. Bonaventure. The 'Cats met the Bonnies earlier this season, as Mallorie Haines drained six three-pointers to lead the Wildcats to a 73-39 victory inside Belk Arena. Haines' hot hand made her the first Wildcat to score six three's in a game since Katie Turner shot 6-of-9 from deep against La Salle in the first round of the A-10 Tournament in March 2020.
NOTABLES... Davidson Head Coach Gayle Fulks has reached 86 wins through 177 games at the helm of the Wildcats. She has a .486 winning percentage in that span. The Wildcats have shot 50 percent or better in seven games this season and are 5-2 when reaching that mark. The 'Cats have also had 4 or more scorers reach double-figures 7 times this season, and are 5-2 when doing so. Since joining the conference in 2014-15, Davidson is 52-90 in Atlantic 10 play and 42-51 in Fulks' tenure.
TOURNAMENT HISTORY... For the last four seasons, the Wildcats have won their opening game of the A-10 Championship, before losing in the quarterfinals during the 2019 and 2020 tournaments and the second round of the 2021 and 2022 tournaments. In 2019, the 'Cats entered the postseason as the No. 5 seed, their highest seed to date since joining the league. Davidson will be meeting St. Bonaventure in its opening game of the A-10 tourney for the third time in program history.
A WIN WOULD... Mark the fifth consecutive season where Davidson has survived its first round game at the #A10WBB Championships. Mark Davidson's third straight win over St. Bonaventure in the Atlantic 10 Tournament. Set up the Wildcats to meet No. 6 Saint Joseph's in the second round.
SEASON SUMMARY... Davidson's non-conference season included three ranked opponents in Duke, Maryland and NC State, as the 'Cats managed to close out the month of December winning five of six contests. The Wildcats defeated Charlotte in the inaugural 704 Cup, before beating Morgan State for their final game in 2022, which proved to be the 500th victory in Davidson women's basketball program history. In conference play, the 'Cats rattled off a four-game win streak, with victories over St. Bonaventure, VCU, Duquesne and Saint Louis, but closed out league play winning two of their final seven games of the regular season.
PROTECT THIS HOUSE... The 'Cats ended the home season 6-4 on McKillop Court, their fifth consecutive winning season at home.
