'Cats Take Down Presby at Home

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson women's tennis team picked up a 6-1 non-conference victory over Presbyterian College on Saturday afternoon. The 'Cats took two out of three doubles matches and five singles pairings on the day.
"The team did a great job mentally today," said head coach Susanne Depka about the win. "We have been working on mental toughness, and the girls showed their courageousness. They stuck with what we've invested in, and today it paid off."
Emma Heiderscheit and Franny Shea won the top doubles match in a tight contest that went down to the wire. The duo won 7-6 after taking the tiebreaker 7-4. In the #3 doubles match, freshman Savanna Kollock and Josie Schaffer won in a 6-3 decision to give Davidson a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
The 'Cats dominated the No. 2 through 6 matches as Daniela Porges set the tone with a 6-3, 6-2 win in the No. 3 spot. Franny Shea gave Davidson the lead with a 6-2, 6-3 win in the No. 5 match, and Emma Heiderscheit downed her opponent 6-2, 6-4 to make it 4-1.
Kavya Patel and Savanna Kollock put the finishing touches on the winning day with a pair of 6-2, 6-2 wins.
Davidson will play again tomorrow at home against Western Carolina at 2:00 p.m.
