Dodd Wins High Jump to Highlight USC Indoor Open

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Sophomore Riley Dodd took first place in the high jump, and the Davidson Wildcats set five new personal-best times to highlight the USC Indoor Open on Friday.
Dodd, a sophomore from Fort Collins, Colorado, finished in a three-way tie for first place in the women's high jump to get the day started on a high note. Dodd crossed the bar at 1.55 meters to earn a tie for the top spot. Later in the day, the Colorado native set a new personal mark in the shot put with a throw of 8.80 meters. This broke her previous record of 8.58 meters.
In the 200 meters, Aleia Gisolfi-McCready and Kate Carnevale each turned in top-15 finishes. Gisolfi-McCready set a new personal-best with a time of 25.12 which was good for 12th at the meet and puts her inside the top-20 in the Atlantic 10. Carnevale finished in 15th with a time of 25.26.
The 'Cats also had strong showings in the 3,000 meters. Emily Henkel won the afternoon race with a new personal mark of 10:39.07, and teammate Lilly Sirover finished in second with a time of 10:53.37 to set another personal record. Freshman Tate Arrington took eighth place in the evening race, and set a new PR with a time of 10:33.24.
The women's track and field team will now set their sights on the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships in Kingston, R.I. next weekend.
