Horowitz Wins 400, 'Cats Finish Seventh at A-10 Indoors

KINGSTON, R.I. – Rachel Horowitz won the 400 meters, Kierra Marshall placed third in the 200 meters, and the 4x400 relay team took second to pace the Davidson Wildcats on the final day of the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships on Sunday.
The Wildcats finished seventh out of 14 schools in the team standings while VCU earned the most points and took the team title with 149.
Horowitz, an Austin, Texas native followed up her prelim-leading performance with a championship effort on the final day. The senior ran a personal-best time of 56.63 to earn her first career top finish. It was also Davidson's first-ever indoor champion in the 400 meters.
Junior Kierra Marshall also turned in a personal-best performance and made it to the podium. Marshall took third place when she crossed the finish line in 24.67 to earn her first career A-10 medal. The Rockville, Md. Native also broke the school record in the 60 when she finished ninth with a time of 7.78.
Aleia Gisolfi-McCready set a new personal mark in the 500-meter finals. The sophomore ran a 1:15.41 to earn a fourth-place finish.
Also finishing in the top-ten on the day was Frances Witworth in the 3,000 meters (7th), and Breila Fuller in the 1,000 meters (7th).
To round out the weekend, Davidson's 4x400 relay team consisting of Rachel Horowitz, Sophia Hood, Kierra Marshall, and Aleia Gisolfi-McCready finished in second place with a time of 3:51.81. It marked Davidson's top finish in the event since entering the A-10 back in 2015.
The women's track and field team will shift their focus to the outdoor season which will begin on March 16 at UNC Charlotte's 49er Classic.
