NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- For the first time since 2017, a pair of Wildcats have captured Atlantic 10 weekly honors as David Skogman was named the league's Co-Player of the Week and freshman Bobby Durkin earned Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon.
A 6-10 forward from Waukesha, Wisc., Skogman earned the first weekly nod of his career by averaging 24.5 points per game in a 2-0 week for the Wildcats. Including a career-high 30-point performance against Charlotte last Wednesday, Skogman shot 60 percent from the floor across the two-game stretch and led the 'Cats to back-to-back wins for the first time this season. He shared the weekly honor with La Salle's Khalil Brantley (26.5 ppg, 10.0 rpg).
Durkin also collected the first conference honor of his career, shooting 62.5 percent from the floor and 53.8 percent from beyond the arc. The Illinois native averaged 15.5 points per game, while scoring a career-high 18, including 11 straight points, against the 49ers in the annual Battle for the Hornets' Nest game. He also averaged 3.5 rebounds per game and dished four total assists.
Durkin and Skogman are the first Davidson duo to collect conference weekly honors in the same week since Kellan Grady and Jon Axel Gudmundsson were Rookie and Player of the Week, respectively, on Nov. 13, 2017.
