Newman Named A-10 Performer of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Davidson swimmer Anna Newman has been named Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday afternoon.
It's the first league honor of the year for a Wildcat and the first for Newman since she was named A-10 Rookie of the Week in January, 2021.
The junior from Raleigh won seven events during the two-day Richmond Duals last weekend. That included sweeping the 100 breast and 200 breast against Richmond and Duquesne, while helping the Wildcats to a 1-1 weekend.
Against Richmond, Newman won the 100 breast and 200 breast in 1:05.07 and 2:21.81, respectively. She won the 200 IM in 2:09.26 and also swam alongside Chale Jacks, Ann Thompson and Martha Tripsa on the winning 200 medley relay (1:45.91).
In the win over Duquesne, Newman won the 100 breast (1:05.58) and 200 breast (2:22.53) and swam with the same relay teammates on a victorious 400 medley (3:53.43).
Newman and the Wildcats return to action Saturday, Oct. 28 at VMI.
