HAMPTON, Va. — Davidson swimmer Dylan Felt won the 500 freestyle for the fourth straight season and was part of two school-record swims to lead the Wildcats Thursday at the Atlantic 10 Championships.
Felt's win in the 500 free locked in his eighth career A-10 gold medal, as the senior and two-time A-10 Most Outstanding Performer touched the wall in 4:19.28. Additionally, Felt teamed with Zain Butt, Mitch McClain and Phelim Crowley to finish fourth and set a Davidson record (1:19.23).
And leading off that relay, Felt's 50 free swim of 20.11 is another Davidson mark. That means Felt now has his name on the program's 50, 100, 200, 500, 1,000 and 1,650 free records.
Felt had familiar company in the 500 free, as Davidson freshman Henry Shoemaker took bronze with a time of 4:23.19. And Davis Moore swam first in the 500 free consolation final.
McKenna Smith's seventh-place finish in the 50 free (23.03) led the Davidson women.
The action continues Friday with 10 a.m. prelims and 6 p.m. finals, with events including the 100 fly, 400 IM, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, the 400 medley relay and men's 3M diving.
