DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The Davidson lacrosse team will begin Atlantic 10 play this weekend, playing host to the George Washington Colonials on Friday night and the George Mason Patriots on Sunday afternoon.

The 'Cats will square off against GW at 6:30 p.m. on Friday night and then take on the Patriots at 1 p.m. on Sunday. For complete coverage, visit davidsonwildcats.com/coverage.

GAME DAY PROMOS/INFO
  • The first 60 student fans at Friday night's game will receive a Davidson beanie.
  • The lacrosse team will be dedicating Friday's game to raising money to benefit Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region in support of Susan Campbell and her family.
  • Sunday's game will be dedicated to Morgan's Message, an organization that amplifies stories, resources, and expertise to confront the negative stigma around student-athlete mental health.
FOUR THINGS TO KNOW
KNOW THE FOES… George Washington is 2-6 to start the season, and was predicted to finish seventh in the league's preseason poll. With wins over American and Longwood the Colonials are led by Tori Hampton, who has 10 points off a team-high eight goals. The Patriots of George Mason are 1-6 this season, with their lone victory coming against Howard earlier this month, 18-5.

WAYNE'S WORLD…  "I have been very impressed with my team so far this year," said Head Coach Kim Wayne. "I had high expectations coming in as I knew the senior class was very strong, but I also knew that we lost four starters last year, so having a young defense was something we focused on early… For the first time since I've been here we actually have opponents nervous about playing us. Typically teams see us as the underdog, but that isn't the case anymore and I know that motivates my team to fight even harder."

CONFERENCE NODS… Davidson juniors Grace Fahey and Erin Cooke have each collected Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honors this season, as Fahey has 18 goals and two assists on the season while Cooke leads the team in total points with 31 and a team-best 18 assists. Nationally, Fahey ranks third in Division I lacrosse in shot percentage, with 18 goals on 26 shots (.692) while Cooke's 18 assists this season is good for 19th in the country.

WHAT YOU'VE MISSED… Gearing up for league play and the hunt for an A-10 title, the 'Cats went 6-1 in non-conference this season, including a six-game win streak including victories over High Point, Coastal Carolina and Cincinnati. Davidson is currently undefeated at home, 4-0, and averages 8.43 assists per game, which ranks sixth nationally.
