DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The Davidson women's basketball team is set to tip off in its fifth postseason appearance in program history on Friday night, ready to take on the Nevada Wolf Pack at 5 p.m. in the opening round of the Women's Basketball Invitational.
The Wildcats are guaranteed three games in the WBI, taking place on the campus of Transylvania University.
Five Things to Know
THE POSTSEASON...This is Davidson's fifth all-time postseason appearance and the second in the WBI. The other three appearances were in the Women's National Invitational (WNIT), as the 'Cats last competed in the WBI during the 2018-19 season, falling to Marshall 67-64 in the opening round.
BIG MOMENTS... Davidson's signature victories this season came over two NCAA tournament teams. The Wildcats beat Conference USA Champion, Charlotte, 79-65, and Atlantic 10 Champion, UMass, 76-67. In their last outing, the Wildcats pushed A-10 Regular Season Champs, and NCAA participant, Dayton to overtime, before falling 60-55. Dayton defeated DePaul, 88-57, in the NCAA's First Four action on Wednesday night.
THE ROOKIE... Freshman Issy Morgan has made an immediate impact on the Atlantic 10 Conference, as she was named to the league's All-Rookie team earlier this month. The Australia native earned three Rookie of the Week honors this season and ranks 8th in the league in three-point field goal percentage (38.1%).
PROTECT THIS HOUSE... The 'Cats ended the home season 7-6 on McKillop Court, their fourth consecutive winning season at home.
NON-CON SUCCESS... The Wildcats ended their non-conference slate at 9-3 overall, their best record outside of league play since the 2006-07 season.
