2025-26 Season Recap
For the second straight year, the Davidson College Wildcats secured a double bye in the conference tournament, finishing with a 12–6 record in league play. The 'Cats also reached the 20-win mark for the fourth time in program history—and for the first time as members of the A-10 under head coach Gayle Fulks.
Davidson is powered by three-time all-conference standout Charlise Dunn, who earned a spot on the A-10 All-Conference First Team on Tuesday, along with Second Team honoree Katie Donovan.
The Wildcats now aim to reach the conference championship game for the first time in program history, after advancing to their first-ever semifinals last season before falling to eventual-champion George Mason.
PLAYOFF HISTORY
The Wildcats ended their historic 2024-25 season with 19 victories, at the time, their most under head coach Gayle Fulks, and a program-best 13 league wins en route to a third-place finish, their highest since joining the league in 2014.
Davidson's first trip to the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Tournament ended at that juncture as second-seeded George Mason topped the No. 3 Wildcats 63-50. Katie Donovan led Davidson with 16 points, while Charlise Dunn added 14.
The 'Cats have faced Saint Joe's one time in the A-10 championship, falling 64-53 in the second round during the 2022-23 season.
ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS
Charlise Dunn earned her third consecutive season All-Conference appearance for Davidson after being named to the A-10 All-Conference First Team and All-Academic Team, while Katie Donovan was named to the All-Conference Second Team, the league announced Tuesday.
Dunn tallied 25 double-figure games, including seven contests with over 20 points scored and two 30-point scoring nights. Her regular season was highlighted by a career-high 33-point scoring outburst at the WBCA Showcase against No.7 ranked Baylor where she shot 10-for-20 from the field, 10-for-11 from the line and hit multiple clutch shots and free throws to send the game to overtime.
The second leading scorer on the team, Donovan was the league's best three-point shooter and currently ranks fourth in the nation in three-point percentage. Her season was highlighted by a career-high 28 points against Ball State.
MILESTONE WATCH
Making the A-10 championship game would be historic for the Wildcats for a myriad of reasons, one of which being that Gayle Fulks would become the winningest women's basketball coach in program history. She sits at 143-126 on her career at Davidson and needs to reach 145 wins to surpass Annette Watts on the all-time wins list.
UP NEXT
The winner of Friday's contest will move on to the conference semifinals against the winner of No. 1 Rhode Island and No. 8 Loyola Chicago at 11 a.m. on Saturday. The game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
