Wildcats Return to Richardson for Coastal Carolina

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The Davidson College lacrosse team will return to Richardson Stadium on Saturday morning for an 11 a.m. opening draw against the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers.
Davidson enters the match up 1-0 after defeating regional foe, High Point University last Saturday, 12-8.
The Series
The Wildcats hold a 2-1 advantage in the all-time series against the Chanticleers, despite falling 12-7 during last season's March 7 meeting. After first meeting in 2013, Davidson took the first two matchups 18-8 and 10-9. Last time out against the Chants, Davidson had a four-point performance from Julianne Carey (3 goals, 1 assist) and one goal and one assist from Jane DiGregorio and Gianna New, respectively.
Keeping Up With the 'Cats
Davidson opened up the new season with a commanding 12-8 win over High Point last weekend, as junior Amanda Monahan earned the win in cage for the 'Cats. The netminder stopped 11 shots and ended the day with a .579 save percentage to earn the A-10's Defensive Player of the Week, while Gianna New led the way with four goals and one assist, offensively. Erin Cooke had a solid outing as well, collecting five points off two goals and three assists. On the draw, Julianne Carey grabbed a team-high three draws.

Saturday will be Coastal Carolina's 2022 season opener, after going 10-7 last season. The Chants return three of their top-four point scorers from last season's squad in Kayla Downey (35 goals, 31 assists, 66 points), Megan Bozzi (28 goals, 9 assists, 37 points), and Lauren Cremen (32 goals, 1 assist, 33 points).
