Wildcats Await Jacksonville State Sunday

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The Davidson women's basketball team will make its return trip to Jacksonville State on Sunday afternoon, set to take on the Gamecocks at 3 p.m. EST in Jacksonville, Alabama.

WHAT'S NEW
OPPORTUNITIES ARISE... Three different 'Cats have made their first career starts for Davidson in the last week, as redshirt-sophomore Sallie Schutz started against No. 19 Maryland on 11/16, Maddie Plank earned her first start against Austin Peay and Tomisin Adenupe made her way into the starting five against Fairleigh Dickinson.
LAST TIME OUT... A seven-point second quarter stunted Davidson's offense on Wednesday morning, as the Wildcats fell 72-51 to the Wofford Terriers in non-conference play. Suzi-Rose Deegan flirted with a double-double, as the senior scored 19 points while grabbing nine rebounds and dishing a team-high four assists. Elle Sutphin added in 14 points, on 7-10 shooting, to go with eight rebounds, and Tomisin Adenupe & Sallie Schutz scored six points apiece.
ROAD WARRIORS... The Wildcats have played on the road for their last six games and have three more road trips, including Jacksonville State, before returning to Belk Arena on December 18 against Elon.
THE NUMBERS... Davidson averages 57.4 points per game through eight games this season, led by Elle Sutphin and Suzi-Rose Deegan who average 15.8 and 12.3 points per game, respectively.
THE SERIES
- Sunday will be the second meeting between the Wildcats and Gamecocks, as the two teams squared off last season from inside Belk Arena.
- The 'Cats captured their first win of the 2021-22 campaign when JSU came to Davidson last season, 69-58.
- In the win, Chloe Welch and Adelaide Fuller led the Davidson scorers, tallying 12 points apiece while Elle Sutphin was right behind with 11 of her own. Fuller and Sutphin also led on the glass for the 'Cats as the two grabbed nine and eight rebounds, respectively.
