Gudmundsson to Play with Phoenix Suns in 2021 NBA Summer League

Former Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Year and Davidson standout Jon Axel Gudmundsson will play for the Phoenix Suns' Summer League squad beginning this weekend.
Gudmundsson, the 2019 Conference Player of the Year, finished his final A-10 slate ranked among league leaders in scoring (16.3/8th), rebounding (8.1/7th), defensive rebounds (7.3/2nd), assists (5.1/6th), assist/turnover ratio (2.2/4th) and minutes played (37.8/2nd).
In addition, Gudmundsson hit the following milestones -- 1,700 career points, 750 rebounds, 550 assists, 200 made 3-pointers and 150 steals, making him the first Division I player since 1992-93 to reach those marks for a career.
Gudmundsson, who was also selected to the AP Honorable Mention All-America team in 2019, concluded his decorated career in a Davidson uniform 10th all-time in scoring (1700), seventh in rebounds (785), third in assists (567), sixth in steals (160) and eighth in 3-pointers made (218).
Following graduation, Gudmundsson played the 2020-21 season with the Fraport Skyliners (Germany), where he averaged 12.3 point, 3.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists in his first professional stint.
The 16th annual MGM Resorts NBA Summer League will feature all 30 NBA teams playing four games apiece during the 10-day, 75-game event. After every team plays four games, the two teams with the best records from the first four games will meet in the Championship Game on Aug. 17.
