'Cats Bounce Back, Down Hawks 6-1

"The team played really well today," noted Head Coach Susanne Depka. "We had great energy throughout the entire match, which was fun to watch. We worked on a few areas this week in practice and they did a great job transferring them to the matches today. I'm super proud of them. Hopefully the girls can continue to take from practice, and today's match, into tomorrow. This group continues to grow and improve each match!"
The 'Cats got off to a strong start and never let up, as all three doubles units swept the Hawks. Nicole Krykanov and Josie Schaffer led from court one, taking a 7-5 battle for Davidson. Down the line, Alyssa Hahn and Elizabeth Truluck took a dominant 6-1 win from court three, while Mira Gladstone and Franny Shea edged out a 6-4 victory from No. 2.
From the singles courts, Krykanov and Gladstone fought through three-set matches. Gladstone came out with a 10-5 third-set clincher, while Krykanov fell in the final, 15-13. Schaffer led from the No. 1 slot, turning in 6-2, 6-0 results, and picked up her fifth singles match of the season to improve to 5-5 overall. Shea and Hahn had strong showings on the afternoon, as the duo each picked up a win from 6-1, 6-0 scores, while freshman Charlotte James snuck out a 3-0 tiebreaker in the second set to sweep SJU's Amato.
Davidson will have a quick turnaround, as the Wildcats look ahead to a 10 a.m. match tomorrow morning at the University of Delaware.
