NEWARK, Del. -- After picking up a big conference win over Saint Joe's on Saturday, the Davidson Wildcats turned around to face the Delaware Blue Hens on Sunday, ultimately falling 7-0 in the road contest.
UDel jumped out to a commanding start and never looked back, as the Wildcats dropped all three doubles matches in close scores, 6-4, 6-3 and 7-5.
In the singles matches, the 'Cats led early from courts one, four and six, thanks to strong starts from Josie Schaffer, Elizabeth Truluck and Alyssa Hahn. While Truluck and Hahn captured first set victories, the Blue Hens bounced back and took the next two sets from each of the Wildcats to steal the tiebreakers.
"It was a hard fought match today," said Head Coach Susanne Depka. "We were close in several matches and had opportunities. I believe so much in these young ladies. They are in control of every point and are coming up just short in a few games. When they begin to believe they can take the match and deserve the W, they will get the result they have worked so hard for!"
The match was clinched on court three, with Mira Gladstone falling in two to Delaware's Montana, 6-4, 6-4. On the year, the Blue Hens improve to 4-0 while Davidson drops to 4-7.
The 'Cats are back for a midweek match up at Radford on Thursday, March 25 at 3 p.m.
