Lengthy Run Leads Billikens Past ‘Cats, 57-45

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Saint Louis broke open a back-and-forth affair with a 21-4 run midway through the contest to get by Davidson, 57-45, in Atlantic 10 women's basketball action Friday evening inside Belk Arena.
Katie Turner (14) and Adelaide Fuller (12) were the lone Wildcats in double figures, while Alana Davidson added a personal-best 9 points to go along with 4 blocks.
In the opening 20 minutes, the two teams traded multiple runs, including an 11-0 run by the Billikens to close the second quarter and carry a 32-26 lead into the break.
The Wildcats raced out to an 8-2 lead highlighted by a pair of early Turner 3-pointers, moving her into second all-time at Davidson (8-12, 5-9 A-10) with 223 career triples. Saint Louis responded with a streak of its own before another Wildcat burst gave them a 26-21 advantage with 2:53 left in the half.
Saint Louis (11-3, 9-3 A-10), which finished with a commanding 54-38 advantage on the glass, carried its unanswered run into the third quarter stretching it to 21-4 and eventually extending the margin to as many as 14 late in the contest.
Myriama Smith Traore and Brooke Flowers led the Billikens' effort on the glass with 17 and 10 boards, respectively.
Despite the setback, Davidson committed a season-low five turnovers, but shot just 29.9 percent from the floor and only connected on 3-of-24 attempts from long range.
The Billikens, who shot 32.8 percent from the floor were led by Ciaja Harbison's 14 points, while Rachel Kent had 11 and Julia Martinez scored 10.
