Mennenga Named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Sam Mennenga of the Davidson men's basketball team has been selected Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
A freshman from Auckland, New Zealand, Mennenga turned in a solid collegiate debut with 12 points and 9 rebounds in 29 minutes. The 6-9 forward finished 4-of-6 (.667) from the floor, drilled a 3-pointer and converted 3-of-4 from the charity stripe in the season-opening win for the Wildcats.
Coming off a 17-point, 5-rebound effort in Davidson's setback against Texas Monday, Mennenga and the 'Cats will be back in action Tuesday evening against Providence at 7 p.m.
Davidson will conclude its second appearance in the Maui Invitational on Wednesday.
