SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – For the third consecutive season, senior Kellan Grady (Boston, Mass.) of the Davidson men's basketball team, has been named to the Jerry West Award Watch List, as announced Tuesday by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
Named after Class of 1980 Hall of Famer and 1959 NCAA Final Four Most Valuable Player Jerry West, the annual honor in its seventh year recognizes the top shooting guards in Division I men's college basketball. A national committee of top college basketball personnel determined the watch list of 20 candidates.
Grady a three-time all-conference performer, finished the 2019-20 regular season ranked fifth in the Atlantic 10 in scoring at 17.2 points per game and fourth in minutes played (35.8).
Over his last 11 games, the 6-5 guard averaged 20.6 points, while shooting 51.7 percent from the floor, including 25-of-51 from 3-point range. In all, Grady hit double figures a team-best 25 times, which featured 12 outings with 20 points or more a year ago.
A three-year starter for the 'Cats, Grady enters the 2020-21 campaign 13th on Davidson's all-time scoring list with 1,626 career points.
College basketball fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting presented by Dell Technologies in each of the three rounds. In late January, the watch list of 20 players for the 2021 Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award will be narrowed to just 10. In late February, five finalists will be presented to Mr. West and the Hall of Fame's selection committee.
