DAYTONA, Fla. — The Davidson men's tennis team finished off their Spring break trip to the state of Florida with a 4-3 win over Bethune-Cookman Thursday afternoon, pushing their win streak to a season-best four straight.
The win was also the Wildcats (10-3) 10th on the season, marking the fifth year in a row they have reached the double-digit mark in victories. The 'Cats also improved to 4-1 on the road this season.
It was 1-0 after a forfeit win at No. 3 doubles and then the pair of Douglas MacIntosh and Axel Fries scored a 6-2 decision at No. 1. The duo won their first together on the season.
Another forfeit win at No. 6 gave the 'Cats two team points and they then earned wins at No. 2 and 3 position to seal up the victory over Bethune-Cookman (4-3).
The freshman Kavarana pulled out a 6-3, 7-6 decision at No. 2 for eighth win in 10 matches and third straight victory overall.
At No. 3, Camden Mazzoni continued his impressive sophomore season by earning a three-set victory on the strength of a 5-7, 6-4, 7-5 decision. He improved to a team-best 9-2 on the season and picked up his first win at that position in the lineup.
Davidson returns home to next face off against Elon, March 13, at 3 p.m.
