Stanley Earns Second A-10 Rookie Honor

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Freshman swimmer Shelby Stanley is Atlantic 10 Women's Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. The honor is her second of the season.

Swimming at the Bucknell Invitational, Stanley posted the A-10's best times in three events, was part of three event wins and put her name on a school record.

Also honored on Oct. 22, Stanley won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:00.43, which set the school mark and is tops in the league this year. She also won the 400 IM in 4:18.68, with the best A-10 time and second in Davidson history.

She finished second in the 200 fly in 2:00.52, narrowly missing the Davidson record and setting the top time in the A-10.

Stanley also swam anchor on the victorious 800 free relay team (7:23.38) and was on the second-place 400 medley relay, with the fastest split of 54.04 in the butterfly.

Additionally, she finished sixth in the 100 fly (55.13) and was on two other top-four relays (200 free, 400 free).
