DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Wildcats return home this weekend for its lone game this week when they play host to George Mason Sunday in Atlantic 10 women's soccer inside Alumni Stadium.
The Matchup ...
Sitting in a tie for third place in the A-10 standings, Davidson (8-4-2, 3-1-1 A-10) faces George Mason (2-9-1, 0-5 A-10) Sunday for a 2 p.m. game. The Wildcats are off to their best start in league play.
Coach Denton's Thoughts on the Upcoming Game ...
"We are looking forward to a home game back on campus this Sunday after a long time on the road last week. It's going to be a another tough one against a talented GMU team and their threatening attack. A one game weekend has come at the right time for our group, as we have had the extra academic demands of our mid-terms and I know they are excited to be back at alumni stadium. We had a great run of games and we are looking to bounce back quickly after our defeat in Dayton. Our players are looking forward to their next challenge."
Unbeaten Streak and Record Shutout Streak ...
The Wildcats recently had an eight-game unbeaten streak (6-0-2), which was the longest since 2009. The streak was snapped Sunday in a setback at Dayton. During the run, the 'Cats outscored the opposition 10-0 and went 3-0-2 at home. Cameron France paced the offense with seven points on three goals and an assist, while Michelle Manceaux (2 goals) and Hailey Braemer (goal, 2 assists) had four points each.
In addition, Davidson also set a new school record with their eighth consecutive shutout in a 1-0 overtime win vs. Rhode Island last Friday. It topped the previous record of seven shutouts in a row during the 1999 season.
