‘Cats Suffer 1-0 Setback at Mason in Double Overtime

FAIRFAX Va. -- Gilian Buijk's header in the 103rd minute lifted George Mason over Davidson, 1-0, in Atlantic 10 men's soccer action Saturday evening at Mason Stadium.
The Wildcats, who have played five overtime contests this season, including three in their last four outings, fall to 2-7-2 overall and 1-3-0 in the league. Mason improves to 4-8-1 and 3-1-0 with the win.
The game's only goal came when the ball was played back into the box by Tunde Akinlosotu following a Patriots' free kick from about 25 yards out. Buijk's attempt caromed off the right post just past the diving Sawyer Gaffney and into the lower corner.
Hugh Chatham, Jamie DiLuzio, Henry Howell and Lucas Hauth led the 'Cats with two shots each.
Both teams finished with four shots on frame and four corner kicks each.
