Women's XC Posts Top Five Finish at Royals XC Challenge

CHARLOTTE – The Davidson women's cross country team placed fourth of 63 teams at the Royals Cross Country Challenge Friday afternoon at McAlpine Park.
The Wildcats registered 189 points to place fourth overall. Lee won the meet with 90 points, while Furman (126) and Malone (160) rounded out the top three squads.
For the second straight week, Davidson was led by veteran Maddie Hunter. Hunter placed 28th overall, traversing McAlpine's 5,000-meter course in 18:17.0. Not far behind Hunter was freshman teammate Natalie Abernathy in 18:19.6 (30th overall).
Third across the line was freshman Alexis McDonnell in 35th with a time of 18:28.5. Senior Paige McKinney (18:38.4) and freshman Kelsey Troutman (18:39.1) rounded out the Wildcat top five as Davidson's scoring contingent were separated by just 22 seconds.
Davidson next toes the line at the Atlantic 10 Championship on Sat. Nov. 2 in Fairfax, Va.
