Davidson Opens A-10 Play at Home vs. George Mason Sunday

DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Davidson women's basketball team gets the new calendar year underway Sunday by opening Atlantic 10 play at home against George Mason inside John M. Belk Arena. The two teams met last year to open league play as well in Fairfax, Va.
Davidson ended its non-conference play with a 6-7 record, finishing up last Sunday with a road game at No. 9/9 N.C. State. The Wildcats will be looking to better last year's 7-9 A-10 record, which was a program best since they joined the league during the 2014-15 season.
Military and First Responders Day
Sunday's game is Military and First Responders Day, so all personnel with a valid ID will receive two FREE tickets to the game. It is also Mooresville Wildcats Youth Basketball Day and they will receive free admission to the game. During halftime, Prime Defense Academy will be performing.
Opening Tip ...
•Davidson is in its 40th season and has collected 439 wins in program history.
•The 'Cats are in their fifth year in the Atlantic 10 after a 21-year run in the SoCon.
•Davidson was picked 11th in the A-10 preseason poll, while Justine Lyon was all-second team.

•Sarah Donovan drained a triple to start the third quarter to give Davidson a 30-27 lead. It would be the Wildcats' last lead as the Wolfpack ran off a 19-2 run on their way to winning the quarter, 24-9, and grabbing a 51-36 advantage. N.C. State would led by as many as 30 in the fourth quarter.
•Off the bench, Justine Lyon had 16 points and Kelly Fitzgerald scored 10.
•Lyon had 10 points in the second quarter to help the Wildcats go into halftime tied at 27-all.
•Davidson was playing its first ranked top-10 team since facing No. 7 Georgia in 2007-08 season.
