DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson junior goalkeeper Sarah Zeszotarski made 15 saves, but field hockey fell to Rider at home in non-conference action Friday night at Belk Turf Field, 5-0.
With the loss Davidson falls to 1-2 overall, while with the win Rider improves to 1-1 on the young season.
Rider outshot the Wildcats 22-6 and kept Zeszotarski busy with 20 of those shots on goal. Tess Coorens and Tess van Ommeren each tallied two points apiece as five different Broncs found the back of the cage.
For Zeszotarski it marked the fifth double-digit saves game in her career and most since a 20-save performance against William & Mary last season.
Davidson senior Kristin Kisa led the team with three total shots, one on cage, while classmate Kate Singletary posted the other shot on goal.
Davidson returns to Belk Turf Field Sunday, Sep. 2 when they play host to LIU Brooklyn in a non-conference clash. Game time is slated to start at 1 p.m.
