Baseball Faces No. 14 Virginia in Road Test Tuesday

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Davidson baseball readies for its second road test of the season, traveling to Charlottesville, Va., to face No. 14 Virginia Tuesday at Ted Davenport Field.
The Cavaliers are the first ranked opposition the 'Cats will face this season, and the second 2017 NCAA Regional participant.

SCOUTING THE CAVALIERS
Virginia enters the week on an 8-4 ledger, most recently taking two-of-three from fellow 2017 Regional squad Yale. Senior infielder Justin Novak tops the squad with a .378 average, while senior catcher Caleb Knight has a team-best three homers and .575 slugging. The Cavaliers are hitting .290 as a team, while posting a 4.46 ERA.
THE ALL-TIME SERIES
Davidson is 5-13 all-time against the Cavaliers. The two teams faced off in an exhibition contest this past fall at the USA Baseball Complex in Cary, N.C.
LAST TIME OUT
The Wildcats struggled against a visiting Lehigh squad, dropping two-of-three to the Mountain Hawks over the weekend. Junior Max Bazin carried a hot bat, hitting at a .529 average for the week, tallying three straight multi-hit affairs. In the 'Cats Saturday victory, senior Evan Roberts matched a career-high, tossing eight frames while falling one strikeout shy of his career-best as he punched out seven.
