SCOUTING THE HOYAS
Georgetown enters the weekend searching for their first win of the young season. The Hoyas are led offensively by senior Austin Shirley, who posts a .429 batting average. Classmate Sammy Stevens boasts two of the four extra base hits for Georgetown and has two of the team's three RBI.
THE ALL-TIME SERIES
Davidson is 19-11 all-time vs. the Hoyas, including taking two-of-three on Opening Weekend last year. The 'Cats have taken six of the last eight meetings between the two.
Senior Cam Johnson is a .347 career hitter against the Hoyas, posting eight hits in 23 at bats. Johnson has recorded three doubles, scored seven times, and knocked in seven during his six games against Georgetown.
LAST TIME OUT AT WILSON FIELD
The Davidson pitching staff had a combined no-hitter against the Demon Deacons until the eighth inning Tuesday, winning 3-1. The staff was led by senior Connor Gordon's six frames, where he tallied four strikeouts and allowed just one walk. Gordon faced just one batter over the minimum, working three-up, three-down frames for the first five consecutive innings.
In a matchup between the only two Super Regional squads from the Carolinas, the 'Cats were held to just four hits, but took the lead right away after senior leadoff hitter Cam Johnson launched a homer two pitches into the first. Junior Eric Jones tallied two RBI in the contest, while infielder Matt Frey recorded his first collegiate single and scored.
