Carpenter Named A-10 Co-Rookie of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, VA. – Davidson swimmer Hope Carpenter has been named Atlantic 10 Conference Co-Rookie of the Week for Oct. 22-28, the league announced Tuesday.
The freshman from Greensboro continued the promising start to her college career Saturday in team wins against VMI and UNC-Asheville at home.
Carpenter won the 100- and 200-yard backstrokes, posting times of 58.73 and 2:08.47, and also swam the opening leg of Davidson's victorious 4x100 medley relay team. She joined Hannah Gould, Isabella McElrath and Maggie Farrell to post a 3:55.94.
"Hope has begun to author a standout season for the Wildcats," said Davidson coach John Young. "I'm thrilled to see her recognized. If she continues down the path she's on – working hard and being a great teammate – she'll do outstanding things for Davidson. We knew her events would be an important point of differentiation in our matchup with Asheville on Saturday, and she didn't disappoint."
The conference honor is the first for Carpenter, who was recognized along with George Mason's Megan Cummins.
