DCFH Season Ends with Loss at Wake Forest

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The No. 19 Wake Forest field hockey team struck early and often and never looked back in a 7-0 win over Davidson Sunday in the Wildcats' season finale.

Davidson finishes the season 5-13, while Wake Forest improves to 9-8 entering this week's Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament.

ACC leading scorer Julie Grahoff scored four of the Demon Deacons' goals, including the first 1:08 into the match. Kelsey Gill, Eleanor Winants and Megan Anderson also had goals.

Davidson goalkeeper Sarah Zeszotarski returned from injury to start and played the first half with six saves.

Sunday marked the final game for six Davidson seniors: Courtney Byler, Kristen Kisa, Emily Morgan, Leigha Nortier, Bean Rodriguez and Kate Singletary.

"I am so proud of this team and how far they have come this year. Last year was a pretty rough season, and these seniors made it their mission to turn things around. They definitely accomplished that. From their dedication, perseverance and commitment to our culture, this senior class was a unified group that pushed everyone to believe in DCFH. They worked hard on and off the field and made it fun to play great hockey. I am honored to have coached these women, and I am proud of how much they have have accomplished. They have set the standard for our underclassmen, and I am excited for the future of this team. Our returning players are hungry for success, and I know they will continue to build on all the work put in this season. Thank you to all of the DCFH parents, alumnae and fans for your support this season. We can't wait to to work this spring and rip 'em up next year!"
