RICHMOND, VA. – Davidson sophomore Kevin Andrews won two individual events and was also part of a relay win to lead the Wildcats in the second day of a dual meet with George Mason at the Richmond Duals.
Andrews won the 50- and 100-yard backstrokes in 23.79 and 51.65, respectively, and joined Crossan Cooper, Alex Strasser and Matt Bode on the victorious 400 medley relay (3:26). Andrews, Walter Dauksher, Thacher Scannell and Bode took 2nd in the 200 freestyle relay (1:26.24) as well.
"Our performer of the day was Kevin," said Davidson coach John Young. "His backstroke 50 and 100, and both of his relay leadoffs were huge. He was sharp today."
Strasser won the 50 butterfly in 23.35, and second-place performances came from Scannell in the 500 free (4:40.52), Drake Wielar in the 50 breaststroke (27.48) and Cooper in the 400 individual medley (4:07.82).
George Mason finished the meet with a 236-168 team win.
"We swam about even with Mason this morning, much closer to our potential," said Young. "The men did well to start the session with a medley win built on four great splits."
