DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson men's swimming team touched the wall first in every event against Virginia Military Institute Saturday in Charles A. Cannon Pool.
The Wildcats finished with a 153-123 victory in their first home meet of the season.
"I appreciate that the men raced hard, offering our competitors our best and pushing each other all day," said Davidson coach John Young. "There were some great swims, including some impressive 200 freestyles."
Thacher Scannell's win in the 200 free came in 1:41.10, just ahead of teammate Walter Dauksher (1:41.42), and was his personal best by almost a full second. And that display came with last year's A-10 event champion, 2018 Davidson graduate Clay Resweber, in the crowd.
Owen Corkery swept the 100 and 200 backstroke events in 53.21 and 1:55.87, respectively, while Matt Bode swam to first in the 50 (21.83) and 100 (48.21) frees. Crossan Cooper won the 100 breaststroke (59.33) and 1,000 free (9:52.04).
