BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Davidson, the defending Atlantic 10 Tournament Champion, was picked to finish third, while backcourt mates Kellan Grady (first-team) and Jon Axel Gudmundsson (third-team/all-defensive) earned preseason accolades, as announced at the league's annual media day Thursday at the Barclays Center.
The preseason poll and all-conference squads are voted on by the 14 head coaches and members of the media.
The Wildcats, who return three starters from a team that went 21-12, won their first Atlantic 10 Tournament Championship and reached the NCAA Tournament for the 14th time in program history, received six first-place votes and were picked to finish behind favorite Saint Louis (15 first-place votes) and Saint Joseph's (4 first-place votes).
George Mason received the other first-place vote and was predicted to finish fourth ahead of defending regular season champion Rhode Island.
