Swimming's Sarah Coats Named Performer of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Swimming and diving senior Sarah Coats has been named Co-Performer of the Week by the Atlantic 10 Conference, the league announced Tuesday morning.
Coats concluded her strong career with the Wildcats Saturday, pulling in three firsts and a third as Davidson fell to Gardner-Webb in their final dual meet of the year.
A senior from Atlanta, Ga., Coats swept both breaststroke events, with her 100-yard breast time of (1:04.96) falling just five hundredths from her career-best. She also took first in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:23.08), and has won the 100, 200, or both at every meet she has competed in this season. She swam the breast portion of the 200-yard medley relay that also took first, and came in third in the 200-yard individual medley.
Coats, a 2017 A-10 All-Academic team selection, becomes the fourth member of the women's squad to claim weekly honors since the school joined the league in 2014 and the first this season. Additionally, she was also named A-10 Rookie of the Week in 2014.
A two-year captain, Coats ranks fourth all-time in school history in the 100 breast and sixth all-time in the 200.
