LAST TIME OUT
The 'Cats dropped a heartbreaker Sunday to Rhode Island, falling in an extra-point fifth set. Freshman Remi Lehnertz delivered the best performance of her young career, posting a match-and-career-best 13 kills across four sets. Senior Kelly Friers also added 13 in just two sets, and junior Katharine Franz matched her own career-high with 12. The blocking game was strong for Davidson, as freshman Ellie Crosley turned in eight (including three solos), with junior Ciera Cockrell totaling five (two solos) and senior Mary Harriet Moore assisted in four. Crosley also tallied eight kills, while Cockrell added seven.

CROSLEY CROWNED ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
After a strong Atlantic 10 debut, freshman Ellie Crosley became just third Wildcat to ever claim a weekly honor from the league since Davidson joined in 2015. Crosley posted 14 blocks in two matches over the weekend, including a career-high eight against Rhode Island. The middle hitter had five solo rejections, and averaged a total of 1.75 blocks per set. She also contributed 14 kills and did not commit a single hitting error during Friday's sweep of Fordham. She carried a .857 hitting percentage Friday, and finished the weekend at a .308 clip. Crosley ranks third in the league with a .348 efficiency, and is also ranked fourth in total blocks (60). The Austin, Texas native has nearly eclipsed the 100-kill mark, totaling 93 on the season.

SWINGING TO THE TOP
Davidson still ranks at the top of the league with a .241 hitting percentage. The 'Cats had their season-best thus far during their first match with Wofford, when they carried a .402 clip, and have posted an above .300 percentage in six matches this season. Individually, Crosley, Franz, and Friers all rank in the Top 10 in the league with marks of .348, .306, and .306.

SCOUTING THE RAMS
VCU will arrive in Belk Arena Saturday with a 12-game win streak after most recently sweeping Fordham. The Rams are second in the country in total team blocks with 195.5, led by the duo of Jasmin Sneed and Tori Baldwin, who have tallied 90 and 87 to rank third and fifth in the NCAA, respectively. The one-two punch averages 1.53 blocks per set.  The Rams are also fourth in the nation in opponent's hitting percentage, limiting teams to just a .124 clip.

THE LAST MEETINGS
Davidson and VCU faced twice last season, with the Rams faring better in both contests. The two teams began league play against each other last year, where VCU triumphed 3-1. Then-sophomore Mason Rooney turned in a double-double with 19 assists and 11 digs, adding eight kills. The two squads met again on Davidson's Senior Day, when the Wildcats dropped a five-set heartbreaker. Rooney turned in her second triple-double of the year, recorded 10 kills, 25 assists, and 10 digs. Then-sophomore  Franz also performed strongly, posting a then-career-high .455 hitting percentage.
