DAVIDSON, N.C. – Ned Morrissett netted a pair of goals to lead Davidson past Queens University, 5-2, in preseason men's soccer action Tuesday evening at Alumni Stadium.

The Wildcats, who open the 2017 campaign Saturday with a 6 p.m. kickoff on 1992 Team Field against Presbyterian, finished their exhibition slate 2-0-1.

A sophomore from Charlotte, Morrissett put Davidson on the board late in the first half when he converted a breakaway following a turnover near midfield.

"Ned's goal changed the game," said head coach Matt Spear. "Before it, neither team had created much. But it felt like we played downhill from then on. Our energy and conviction improved in the second half. We had talked in pregame about being efficient on the attacking side, and we really took our chances well as the game progressed. And our fitness and depth also were game changers."

Davidson, which played 24 players, also got goals from Louis Evans, Coleman Richards and Quinn Dudek.
