Former Davidson men's basketball standout Jack Gibbs '17 will play for the Minnesota Timberwolves in the NBA's Las Vegas Summer League (July 7-17), as announced by the organization Wednesday.
A three-time all-conference selection, Gibbs is the first player in school history with 1,500/2,000 points, 400 rebounds and 400 assists. He also finished his career third on Davidson's all-time scoring list with 2,036 career points, behind Stephen Curry (2,635) and John Gerdy (2,483).
In addition, Gibbs ranks among the program's all-time leaders in assists (466/5th), 3-pointers made (255/4th), free-throws made (487/1st), free-throw percentage (.820/4th) and steals (161/5th).
The native of Westerville, Ohio, is also the first player to lead the league in scoring in back-to-back seasons since Temple's Dionte Christmas (2006-09).
During his four-year standout career, the Wildcats posted an 81-49 overall record, 47-23 conference mark, won two regular season titles, two conference tournament crowns and appeared in three postseason tournaments, including the school's first-ever at-large selection in 2015.
Gibbs is the fourth Wildcat in the last five years to sign with a NBA summer league team -- Jake Cohen (Phoenix Suns – 2013), De'Mon Brooks (Charlotte Hornets – 2014) and Tyler Kalinoski (Miami Heat – 2015).
