AMHERST, Mass. – Davidson sophomore Brady Logan won the 2017 Atlantic 10 Outdoor shot put title for men's track and field Sunday at the UMass Track & Field Complex on the campus of Massachusetts.
Logan busted onto the scene at the Charlotte Invitational and carried the momentum into the A-10 Champs. In the finals with two opponents already marking throws of 16.31-meters, Logan stretched the tape 16.33-meters (53'7), a new program record and all it took to win the title. Logan's toss is the only throw over 16-meters in program history, snapping Will Funderburg's 10-year-old mark of 15.80-meters at the 2007 SoCon Championship.
Sophomore Sean Caveney posted an impressive day over both hurdle distances, setting new PR's in both. Back in his home state of Massachusetts, Caveney placed second overall with a time of 52.53 seconds. The Andover native took sixth in the 110-meter hurdles, stopping the clock in 14.91 seconds.
Veteran Will Brewster completed a long weekend double with a fourth place result in the 5k with a time of 14:27.00. Brewster awaits word on whether he returns to the NCAA Division I East Region Championship at the University of Kentucky beginning Thursday, May 25.
Senior Walker Mogen placed fifth overall in the 1,500-meter run, stopping the clock in 3:50.79, a new personal best time in his final day of competition as a Wildcat. Mogen leaves Davidson as the fourth fastest 1,500m and sixth fastest 5,000m performer all-time.
