‘Cats Win Third Straight, Cruise to 17-6 Road Win

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — Five players had multiple goals and Davidson won its third straight by scoring its most goals of the season in a 17-6 victory at La Salle Sunday in an Atlantic 10 women's lacrosse contest inside McCarthy Stadium.
The Wildcats (7-8, 5-3 A-10) were paced by freshman Shayne Antolini's season-high eight points on season bests of four goals and four assists, while senior Annie Brockett registered six points on a game-high five goals and one assist. With her five goals, the senior pushed her career best mark to 49 this season and moved into the Wildcats' top-10 all-time in goals.
Antonili (1 goal, 3 assists) and Brockett (3 goals) helped Davidson put the game away by combining for four goals and three assists during a 6-0 run early in the second half to turn a four-goal lead into a 13-4 advantage with 14:35 left on the clock.
Christine Molinari had three points on two goals and an assist, while Sarah Kopp rounded out the multi-goal scorers for the 'Cats with two of her own scores.
The Explorers (7-9, 3-5 A-10) were paced by Toni Massetti's three goals, while three other players had one goal apiece.
Davidson dominated the box score, winning the battle in shots (34-22), groundballs (20-16) and draw controls (18-7), while going 4-for-7 on free-position shots. The defense came up with six caused turnovers, two by Claudia Becker.
Rose Woolson gave up only six goals in just over 55 minutes of action, earning eight saves to give her 140 on the season. Freshman Delaney Guhman saw her first collegiate action between the pipes in the final 4:43, picking up one save.
Antolini got the 'Cats on the board in the first minute of action off an assist from Brockett, She scored another goal by herself later and Brockett added her own for a 3-0 lead with 18:29 left in the first half.
La Salle kept it close when it scored three of the next four goals before Davidson ended the half with three straight goals to make it 7-3.
Massetti would score the first goal of the second half for the Explorers, but Davidson answered with its game-changing 6-0 run and finished off the victory later by scoring the last three goals of the game off the sticks of Shannon Blee, Molinari and Kendall Thielemann.
Davidson returns home to finish out the regular season with a Senior Day game next Saturday, April 29, at 1 p.m.
