RICHMOND, Va.  —
Coming off an impressive Atlantic 10 win last Sunday, Davidson was unable to carry the momentum as it fell on the road Thursday evening to Richmond, 16-8, in women's lacrosse at Robins Stadium.

The Wildcats (4-8, 2-3 A-10), which held St. Bonaventure to one goal last Sunday, saw the Spiders outscore them 10-4 in the first half and were never able to recover. They kept it closer in the second half, scoring four goals to Richmond's six.

Nicole Pettiglio and Christine Molinari paced the offense with two goals each, while the quartet of Sarah Kopp, Annie Brockett, Shannon Blee and Shayne Antolini scored once each. Kendall Thielemann added her team-leading 13th assist.

Richmond (9-4, 4-1 A-10) had five players score two or more goals. Natalia Chaney and Kim Egizi each scored three goals, while Egizi added four assists for seven points. Marissa Brown (two assists), Katie Trainer and Aly Fries netted two goals apiece. Kathleen Berkery tied Egizi with four assists.

Both teams scored once each in the first minute of action, with Kopp tying things up at 1-all at the 29:02 mark on her eighth goal of the season.

The Spiders then ran off an 8-1 run over the next 17 minutes that make it 9-2. The lone Wildcat goal was by Pettiglio, who added one more before the half ended along with Molinari to make it 10-4.

The second half saw Richmond hold at least a six-goal lead for the majority of the half, pushing it out to eight goals three times.

Rose Woolson suffered the setback in goal, finishing with six saves, two caused turnovers and a groundball.

Kopp had a team-high three groundballs, while Pettiglio pulled in six of the 'Cats' 13 draw controls.

The Wildcats return home to face Duquesne this Saturday, April 15, at 12 p.m.
