DAVIDSON, N.C.  —
The Davidson men's tennis team overcame dropping the doubles point and earned a 4-2 Atlantic 10 win Sunday morning vs. George Mason to cap off a perfect homestand at the Davidson Tennis Courts.

The Wildcats improved to 13-4 overall and 4-1 in league action, while winning their seventh straight match at home to move to 8-1. The seven-match home streak ties the longest since a seven-match streak in 2013.

In addition, the 'Cats went 3-0 during their three-match homestand, picking up two of those wins against league foes.

"Great come from behind win for the team," said head coach Drew Barrett. "We struggled a bit in doubles, but came out quick in singles play. Mason competed well and we earned a hard-fought win today."

J.B. Gough and Axel Fries were the lone doubles team to earn a victory, taking a well-played 7-5 match at No. 1 to win their season-best seventh consecutive match and improve to a team-high 13-3 with a 5-0 mark in A-10 action.

Despite falling behind 1-0 in the team match, the quartet of Shamael Chaudhry, David Hager, Fries and Thomas Mason each netted singles wins to give Davidson the victory. Chaudhry nailed down a 6-3, 6-2 decision at No. 1 to push his win streak to four straight. His overall record went to 11-5 (4-1 A-10).

Hager also won his fourth match in a row, using a third set to secure a 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 win at No. 2. The junior bumped his record to 13-3 overall and 3-1 in A-10 play.

Bouncing back from having his 12-match win streak halted Friday, Fries scored a 6-0, 6-3 victory at No. 3 to move his league record to 5-0, while moving to a team-best 14-2 overall.

Giving the 'Cats their final team point was the freshman Mason, who in just his sixth match of the season picked up a 6-1, 7-6 win at No. 6. He moved to 3-0 in A-10 matches and 4-2 overall.

In the five league matches this year the Wildcats have played, they are a combined 22-7 in singles action.

Davidson next plays at College of Charleston Saturday, March 25.
