
Men's Tennis adds Wakefield and Carneiro to Roster

DAVIDSON, N.C. - Davidson College men's tennis program announced a pair of additions to the Wildcats roster for the upcoming 2026-27 season, welcoming incoming freshmen Nico Carneiro and James Wakefield to Davidson.

"I'm really excited to add Nico and James to the program next year," said head coach Drew Barrett. "They are both wonderful individuals and very talented tennis players. They are a great addition to an already amazing group of young men and will help us compete for an A-10 title."
Hailing from Sao Paulo, Brazil, Carneiro moves to Davidson by way of the Weil Tennis Academy in California.
Wakefield comes to Davidson from Atlanta, Ga. where he finished his prep career at Riverwood International Charter School, earning him All-Region First Team honors.
Both scholar-athletes will officially join the Wildcats this fall as the team prepares for their standard autumn tournament slate ahead of the spring dual-match season.
