FAIRFAX, Va. – The Davidson men's track and field team is set to compete at the 2017 Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship Feb. 18-19 at George Mason Field House. The first event is slated for 9 a.m. on Saturday and concludes Sunday.

2016 A-10 Champs
Davidson took fifth place at the 2016 A-10 Indoor Championship, earning 57 team points. The 'Cats boasted individual titles from Patrick Rollo '16 in the 800-meter run and Will Brewster in the 5k. Davidson tallied eight top-five finishes and finished fifth in both A-10 Indoor Championships since joining the league in the summer of 2014.

Going The Distance
Davidson seniors Walker Mogen and Will Brewster enter the weekend ranked two and three in the 3,000-meter run. The pair went 8:14.68 and 8:16.97, respectively, at the BU John Thomas Terrier Invitational. Brewster is also ranked second in the mile (4:08.78).

Record Setting
The 'Cats had a great start to the 2016-17 campaign as six school records fell. Junior Jacob Hostetler broke his own 200-meter record twice, most recently setting the mark at 22.49 seconds at the JDL College Team Challenge. Brewster and freshmen Garrett Nickelson and George Williams used the most of the banked track and great competition at the BU Terrier Classic to rewrite history. Brewster reset the mile record (4:11.95), Williams broke the 400-meter mark (48.52) and Nickelson the 500-meter record (1:04.49). Rookie James Davis tied Michael Lorensten's pole vault mark of 4.55 meters in the penultimate meet before the championship, moving into eighth on the A-10 performance list. The final record came with the 4x400 meter relay team of Hostetler, Nickelson, Williams and Sean Caveney, finishing with a time of 3:18.68, the fastest relay time by Davidson all-time.

Last Time Out
Jacob Hostetler won the 200-meter dash at the JDL College Team Challenge with a time of 22.49 seconds. Converted, Hostetler ranks eighth in the A-10 (22.10). Freshman James Davis won the pole vault, clearing 4.55 meters and earned the A-10 Men's Rookie of the Week honors. Three 'Cats scored in the 800-meter run led by Walker Mogen's third place finish (1:55.49). Junior Ramsay Ritchie (1:56.90) and Will Brewster (1:57.67) were fifth and eighth, respectively.
