 FAIRFAX, Va. –
Davidson senior Will Brewster finished off an impressive 2017 Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship with a pair of stellar races Sunday in the final day of competition at George Mason Field House. For his efforts, Brewster was named the A-10 Track Athlete of the Meet.

Brewster, already with a 5k championship under his belt, opened Sunday by taking second in the mile run with a new program record of 4:10.21. The Grayslake, Ill., native returned to finish fourth in the 3k (8:29.16).

"The men brought their A-game to this meet. From start to finish, our guys were competing and giving it their all. Finishing so close to being in the top three will give us plenty of motivation going forward, but we can certainly walk away from this meet with our heads held high," said head coach Renny Waldron.

The Wildcats finished fifth overall, tallying 65.5 points and recording 13 top-eight finishes.

Junior Jacob Hostetler continued to raise the bar in the 200-meter dash. Hostetler broke the school record for the fourth time this season, placing fifth overall with a time of 22.14 seconds. Hostetler stopped the clock in 22.30 seconds in Saturday's preliminary heat.

Davidson went 4-5 in the 400-meter finals, with Hostetler in fourth (49.01) and freshman George Williams (49.21) in fifth. Fellow rookie Garrett Nickelson placed fifth in the 500-meter finals with a time of 1:05.62, despite getting tripped up by incidental conduct.

Davidson ended the day with another school record mark in the 4x400-meter relay. The team of Hostetler, Nickelson, Williams and Sean Caveney cruised into the finish line third overall with a time of 3:17.78. The time beats the mark the squad set on the banked track at the BU Track and Tennis Center earlier this season.

In his first A-10 Championship, rookie James Davis recorded 4,295 points, good for seventh overall. Davis jumped two spots in the final day using the 60-meter hurdles, 1,000-meter run and his signature event, the pole vault, to pick up crucial points.

Sophomore Brady Logan competed in his first meet of the indoor season and scored for his squad. Logan placed four overall in shot put, marking a throw of 14.68-meters (48'2").

Caveney was eighth in the 60-meter hurdle finals with a time of 8.51 seconds, his best time of the season, while the 4x800-meter relay team also placed eighth overall.

The Wildcats featured four seniors in the meet, Brewster, Mogen, Ben Corson and Jordan Marshall.

"The seniors are going to be dearly missed next year. They have brought a lot of enthusiasm and elevated the level of competition in our program. Between Walker and Will alone, they have four titles and four other podium finishes, top three, in A-10 Championship meets - and their performances have shown our team that we can compete with the best in the NCAA. Ben, Jordan, Walker and Will have been models for the younger guys on our team, as they have excelled in the classroom as well as on the track. We are very happy that they won't be leaving us just yet, as we still have the outdoor track season," said Waldron.
