DAVIDSON, N.C. — After a nine-day break for exams, the Davidson women's basketball team returns to the hardwood Friday morning, Dec. 15, with its annual Education Day game against Gardner-Webb at 11:30 a.m. inside John M. Belk Arena.
The Wildcats (3-6) are 1-2 so far at home, picking up a home-opening victory against UNC Asheville before falling in a close battle to Princeton and then to Elon, Dec. 6. Gardner-Webb enters Friday's contest with a 6-2 record and is 1-1 on the road.
Education Day Game
it is the fourth straight Education Day game for Davidson after hosting Massachusetts last year. Over 1,000 kids are expected to attend the game from local schools Harris Road Middle School, JM Alexander Middle School, Bailey Middle School, Woodlawn Middle School, East Lincoln Middle School, Community School of Davidson, Lakeshore Middle School, Coddle Creek Elementary, Lake Norman Charter Elementary and Davidson Elementary.

•Elon broke open a close game by outscoring the Wildcats (3-6) in the second quarter 17-8 after the 'Cats had an 18-17 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Phoenix added another 20 points in the third quarter and led by as many as 20 in the fourth quarter.
•Lyon had a very efficient night, hitting 6-of-8 field goals, including 3-for-4 from behind the arc, and swished home all seven free throws (a season high) to hit the 20-point mark for the first time.
•Senior Mackenzie Latt added 14 points and six rebounds, while Katie Turner also hit for 14 points as she drained all six of her shots from the charity stripe.
•There were a combined 68 free throws shot, with Davidson going 21-for-29.

•Sarah Donovan grabbed the Wildcats' first weekly award by being named the league's rookie of the week, Nov. 20, vs. Furman and App. State after averaging 14.5 points and 7.0 rebounds a game.
•She scored a season-high 15 points to go with nine boards at Furman and added another 14 points at App. State in leading the 'Cats to a win.

•Mackenzie Latt became the 19th Wildcat to reach 1,000 points last year and currently sits in 10th with 1,245, needing six points to move into 9th.
•She already ranks in the top-15 in career scoring average (8th, 13.0), blocks (6th, 86), field goals made (6th, 537) and attempted (7th, 1,205), and rebounds (7th, 705).
