Abele, 'Cats Wrap Up Fall Season at Kitty Harrison Invite

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Sophomore Alexandra Abele had a perfect weekend and the Davidson women's tennis team finished up their Fall season by competing in the Kitty Harrison Invitational on the campus of North Carolina, Nov. 3-5.
Nine Wildcats in all took part in the invite over the weekend, with Abele going a perfect 3-0 in singles play.
The sophomore opened with a great win against Penn State, taking a 10-8 super tie-breaker victory to determine the match after splitting the first two sets, 6-4 and 5-7. Abele then won a 7-5, 6-2 match against cross-county rival Charlotte, before capping the weekend off with another super tie-breaker win, 10-6 this time, against William & Mary (4-6, 6-1, 10-6).
Also earning singles wins on the weekend was Gabrielle Centenari, Samantha Armas and Ava Todd. The junior Centenari won a 7-5, 2-6, 11-9 match against her Penn State foe. Armas rolled to a 6-0, 6-4 decision over her Charlotte opponent and the senior Todd won a 10-6 super tie-breaker decison against Charlotte after splitting her first two sets, 4-6 and 6-1.
Doubles action show Anna Catharine Feaster and Armas go 2-0 on the weekend after pulling out close 8-6 and 8-7 wins, respectively, against Charlotte and Elon.
Todd and Centenari scored an 8-5 decision against a pair from Charlotte, while Megan Scholvinck and Alyssa Hahn nailed down an 8-2 triumph against Elon. The duo of Ally Sexton and Lindsay Song also picked up a solid 8-2 win against a pair from Elon.
