
OrthoCarolina Sponsors Annual Battle for the Hornets' Nest Game

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Charlotte IMG Sports Marketing and Davidson Sports Properties are proud to partner with OrthoCarolina to present the 2017 Battle for the Hornet's Nest on Tuesday, November 28th at 7p.m. This year's game, which will be played in Charlotte's Halton Arena, will be the 44th meeting between the two teams. Charlotte leads the all-time series, 28-15.
The Hornet's Nest series began in the 1979-80 season. Davidson won the 2016 Battle for the Hornet's Nest, in the Wildcats' John M Belk Arena.
Following the game, representatives from OrthoCarolina will present the Hornet's Nest trophy to the winning team.
Judy Rose, the 49ers Director of Athletics, said, "We're grateful to OrthoCarolina for sponsoring our crosstown rivalry with Davidson. Our annual men's basketball game with them has become a tradition that I know both schools value, and we're all looking forward to the game on Nov. 28th."
Jim Murphy, Director of Athletics for the Davidson Wildcats, said, "At Davidson, we value our long-term partnership with OrthoCarolina built on compassion and care of our student athletes. We appreciate their support of our annual rivalry game and look forward to our visit for another great game at Halton Arena this year."
