CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Davidson competed over the weekend, Oct. 19-22, at the USTA/ITA Regional Championship, with six Wildcats taking part in singles and doubles.
Freshman Lindsay Song had a strong weekend, reaching the main draw of the singles bracket. She started with a solid 6-1, 6-1 decision over UNCG's Blaine Boaz before then upsetting No. 11 seed Tayla Stenta of N.C. State. Song's first match in the main draw was her final one, falling to East Carolina's Alisa Diercksen 6-2, 6-1. She also played a consolation match, but came up short in that one as well, 6-1, 6-4.
Just missing out reaching the main draw was Ava Todd and Samantha Armas. The senior Todd downed Demi Henschel of Presbyterian, 6-2, 6-0 in her first match, but fell in the finals of the qualifier bracket with a 6-3, 6-2 decision.
Armas scored a 6-2, 6-3 decision against North Carolina's Anna Harmon, but fell to No. 16-seeded Ally Miller Krasilinikov of Clemson.
Anna Catharine Feaster faced the top seed in the qualifier, Danni Vines of Furman and went all the way to a third set before dropping a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 match.
Also facing a high seed was Megan Scholvinck, who dropped a 6-2, 6-4 match against No. 4 Daniella Ruiz of Clemson.
Gabrielle Centenari competed in singles as well, falling 6-1, 6-3 to No. 10 seed Olivia Lucas of Elon. She teamed with Scholvinck in doubles and the duo were the closest Wildcat team to score a win, coming up short in a tie-breaker that went to 12 points, falling 12-10.
Davidson closes out the Fall season with a trip to the Kitty Harrison Invitational on the campus of UNC, Nov. 3-5.
