Swimming and Diving Wraps Up Richmond Duals

RICHMOND, Va. – Both the Davidson men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed this weekend at the Greater Richmond Aquatic Partnership.
The women competed in the Richmond Duals, facing Duquesne Friday evening and George Mason Saturday, while the men swam against George Mason both days.
WOMEN
Seniors Elizabeth Weldon and Sarah Coats each had successful performances on the women's side. Weldon took first overall in the 1650 free (17:41.71) and third overall (second in dual) in the 500 (5:16.11) on Friday. On Saturday, Coats tied for the top spot in the 100 breast (1:05.74), and finished third overall in the event on Friday.
Sophomore Isabella McElrath recorded two third-place finishes on Friday - taking second in the dual in both - the 200 fly (2:08.22) and 200 breast (2:23.88). Classmate Alexis LeMone took second in the duals both Friday and Saturday, in the 100 back (59.73) and 200 back (2:13.18), respectively.
Coats and McElrath teamed up with junior Anabelle Durham and freshman Anna Linzell to take third overall in the 200 medley relay Friday, while LeMone, Coats, McElrath, and Linzell combined for a third overall in the 400 medley relay. The quartet of junior Lauren Crane, LeMone, Weldon, and freshman Sarah Helen Shepherd also finished third overall in the 400 free relay.
MEN
The men provided 25 Top-3 finishes over the two-day dual with Mason. Senior Clay Resweber took home the top spot in both the 500 and 200 free events (4:39.50, 1:44.66), a third place in the 100 free (46.53), as well as a narrow fourth-place finish in the 100 back.
Classmate Taylor Willenbring was also successful, pulling in three seconds- 50 breast (27.05), 50 free (21.27), 100 free (46.07)- and a third (100 breast, 59.87).
A pair of sophomores also presented impressive showings- Crossan Cooper won the 200 IM (4:07.94), took second in the 1650 free (16:06.01), and finished third in both the 500 free and 200 IM (4:40.82, 1:56.50). Brian Hynes collected three third place finishes, touching in in the 50 back, 100 back, and 200 back events (24.71, 52.30, 1:54.38).
Other third place finishes include sophomores Alex Strasser in the 100 fly and Ian Hentenaar in the 200 free, freshman Mitchell Stanek in the 200 breast, junior Wilson Clark in the 50 breast, and seniors Trey Harris and Ari Snyder in the 50 fly and 50 free, respectively.
The men's 400 free relay took the top prize, consisting of Hentenaar, Snyder, Resweber, and fellow veteran Cole Riggan. The 400 medley and 200 free each took second, while the B 200 free also placed, coming in third.
UP NEXT
Both squads return home, hosting Georgetown Saturday in Cannon Natatorium.

Other third place finishes include sophomores Alex Strasser in the 100 fly and Ian Hentenaar in the 200 free, freshman Mitchell Stanek in the 200 breast, junior Wilson Clark in the 50 breast, and seniors Trey Harris and Ari Snyder in the 50 fly and 50 free, respectively.
The men's 400 free relay took the top prize, consisting of Hentenaar, Snyder, Resweber, and fellow veteran Cole Riggan. The 400 medley and 200 free each took second, while the B 200 free also placed, coming in third.
UP NEXT
Both squads return home, hosting Georgetown Saturday in Cannon Natatorium.
